REVIEW: Arctic Winds by Sondrae Bennett

Hey Book Lovers!

It's time for another review! Enjoy! :D

ARCTIC WINDS BY SONDRAE BENNETT

Nothing will stop a wolf once he's found his mate...not even her own doubts.

After her skulk abandoned her four years ago, Samantha knew she would never truly be wanted.

When she accidentally stumbles into a wolf town and is asked by their premier to stay, she believes it's the novelty of an arctic fox motivating him. She knows she'll be on her own again once he tires of her.Jason finds himself pulled to Samantha from the moment she faints in his arms.

His wolf is calling to him, telling him he's found their mate and the heat he feels for Samantha is impossible to resist. But his little fox is loaded down with emotional baggage and doesn't believe she's worthy of love.

Can he overcome her fears? Or will pack jealousies and the local foxes convince her she doesn't belong with him before he has a chance?

Excerpt

Samantha nervously wrung her hands. “Listen, I told you I wasn’t going to cause trouble, but if you don’t believe me, maybe I should just head out. I appreciate everything, and I’m feeling much better now…”

Samantha stopped talking as Jason backed her up against the side of her car. Towering over her, Jason drew her eyes to his. He had a wild, almost feral look in his eyes, and a wave of desire crashed through her. He gripped her hips as he pressed her against her car door with his body.

“I’m not worried you’re going to cause trouble,” he all but growled out.
Staring up into his eyes, altered from their mossy green color to a pale yellow that practically glowed, Samantha felt heat flood her core.

“Then what are you worried about?” Samantha whispered, gripping his forearms. He didn’t answer, but his gaze lowered to her lips and he growled again, low and deep. From her position, pushed up against the car by his hard chest, Samantha didn’t hear the rumble so much as she felt it reverberate against her. With the car behind her and the equally unyielding chest in front of her, Samantha felt an unfamiliar spike in her desire as she realized there was no escape. She didn’t want one. She had no thoughts of running away from this man.

Jason slowly lowered his head and molded his lips to hers. His kiss was softer than she expected, barely exerting any pressure.

She stared into beastly eyes and knew the animal was on a short leash. Wanting his wolf set free, she ran her hands up his arms and locked them behind his neck. Deliberately arching her body into his, she tried to make him snap. She wanted his untamed passion--and she got exactly what she asked for.
He pushed her harder against the car as his tongue thrust into her mouth. It was exhilarating, and she moaned, closing her eyes as she moved restlessly against him.

This kiss was unlike the careless assaults she’d previously experienced. Jason’s kisses felt like he was claiming her mouth as his own.

She freely gave him everything he demanded and more. Samantha massaged his tongue with hers and let the world drift away. Only the two of them existed in this new world. She felt a gentle pressure on her hips, and realizing he had lifted her, she wrapped her legs around his waist. His lower body held her up against her car, completely supporting her. Being in his arms, depending on his strength to keep her from falling, only turned Samantha on more. She deepened the kiss and felt his fangs begin to extend. He lifted his hands from her hips and pushed them up under her sweater to cup her small breasts. He circled her stiff nipples through her lace bra with his thumbs, causing her to moan deeply against his lips.

This was by far the most exhilarating experience she’d ever had, and she moved her body against him. She couldn’t get close enough. She wanted to feel his naked flesh against hers. Samantha didn’t know what miracle had made this strong, beautiful and giving man desire her, but she wanted him, now, before he changed his mind.
Review!

This book is so awesome! I loved the small town feeling of this book. It was very Shiftery and I love the brothers in this book! They are so cute and smexy! The twist with what Samantha is, like what Shifter she is, was a shocker! I highly recommend this book to any Shifter fan!

REVIEW: Wild Steamy by Carolyn Crane, Jill Myles and Meljean Brook

 Hey Book Lovers!

Some of you who checked out SHIFTER MONDAY  may remember this book or perhaps have read it. Well here is my review of Wild & Steamy!

WILD & STEAMY

Three all-new novellas of the supernatural and steampunk kind...

"THE BLUSHING BOUNDER" by Meljean Brook
A Tale of the Iron Seas - While the search for a killer puts Constable Newberry’s life in danger, he faces a danger of another kind: to his heart, by the woman forced to marry him. What will it take for this prudish bounder to convince his wife to stay? (13K words)

"VIXEN" by Jill Myles
Miko’s denied her were-fox nature for far too long and turned her back on her vixen heritage. But when she meets two very sexy cat-shifters, she has to decide if she truly wants to give up on her frisky side, or embrace it. Because the were-fox in her doesn’t want to choose between both men…it wants them both. (15K words)

"KITTEN-TIGER & THE MONK" by Carolyn Crane
A Disillusionists Novella - Sophia Sidway, Midcity’s most dangerous memory revisionist, seeks out the mysterious Monk in the wasteland beneath the Tangle turnpike, hoping for redemption…but it turns out that the Monk is not all that pious, and the turnpike is no turnpike at all. (20K words)

REVIEW!

The Blushing Bounders, didn't much sense to me. I tried to read it a couple of times to understand the plot line, the wording and the characters. I got confused with who was who in the book. So I just give up in trying to understand it. I guess Steampunk books aren't for me which I think this was a good experience  because I learnt something new about my reading limits. So if you love Steampunk books then this is for you. I've seen the review on Amazon and people seem to love it. But sadly this book isn't for me and it's not very Wild & Steamy. Sorry Meljean!!!!! (2 stars **)

Vixen, WAS Wild & Steamy. It was way too short for me. I would have liked to have read more about Sam and Jere, you know a wee bit more on their background etc. I loved that, Jill, created her own version of Were-foxes, but then again I've only read about Shelly Laurenston's Were-Foxes. It was very easy to read and to understand but again I wish it had been longers. It was very hot and steamy! (4 stars ****)

Kitten-Tiger & The Monk, was good to begin with then I got confused. I thought that Sophia was a tiger shifter or something like that. I didn't understand some of the words in the short story such as 'Tangles'. What does that mean anyway? I think this book was apart of a series so which is why I got confused again. *Headache*  This book was not Wild & Steamy, sadly. Sorry Carolyn!!!!! (2 Stars **)

I was looking forward to three cracking short stories but sadly I was wrong, I only got one cracking story that I understood. But this is a free e-book and who can't say no to a free e-book?! I can't with is why I bought this book lol

INTERVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Enforcers Redemption by Carrie Ann Ryan

Hey Book Lovers!
Please welcome the creator of the amazing Redwood Pack series! Carrie Ann Ryan is here! Whoop Whoop!

1. Hi, Carrie Ann! I am so thrilled to have you here today! Please give us some background to my followers about Enforcer’s Redemption.

Hi! Thanks for having me! Enforcer’s Redemption is the fourth book in my Redwood Pack series. This is Adam’s book!!! Adam is the Enforcer of the Pack and lost his mate twenty years ago and is just now ready to heal. This was one of the hardest—no the hardest book I’ve ever written in my life. Adam and Bay fought me the entire way through.

2. What inspired you to write Enforcer’s Redemption?

I wanted to see what would happen if someone had lost everything and had to rebuild. I wanted to see if Adam could find another mate and be happy—something he wasn’t good at.

3. When did you start writing novels?

I started writing for publication in July 2011. It’s been a little crazy. But even before that, I was always a writer.

4. Do you miss your teaching job?

Yes and no! I miss the security – if you can even call it that in this economy. I miss the fact that I don’t get to teach daily and share what I know. But I do it in a different fashion now, just in writing, though I’m more in the learning phase I think.

5. Would you ever do a book tour?

I do online all the time! In person? If people would actually want to meet me and if I had the money? Sure. I did my first signing in Sept and LOVED it though. I’m not going to do another one though until next year. If I find authors around me who want to do one though, I may join in.

6. Do you have any advice for people, who are considering getting into the writing business?

Write. Have more than one book ready before you try and publish –indie or traditional. Do your research. Do what’s right for you.

7. What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

Staying home this year instead of going to the shore.

8. Do you have any Thanksgiving recipes to share with us?

Not any good ones! Most of what I do is by memory.

9. Would you write a Thanksgiving themed book in future?

Ironically, me Dana Marie Bell, and Ranae Rose have a Turkey Shifter Facebook page where we write stories with Darkness, the Turkey Shifter. He came about from a discussion at RAW and never went away!

10. What can we expect from you for the rest of 2012?

I have one more book out in 2012, Santa’s Executive, Holiday, Montana book 3 comes out Dec 4th!

Find it On:

Excerpt

The scent of ice and berries filled Adams nose. He loved the way it made him feel at home, like he belonged. A warm body lay flush against him, and he smiled. His Anna. She'd come home. He rested his hands on the swell of her belly, feeling their child. He inhaled that ice and berries scent again as the fog lifted, and he froze.
His Anna did not smell of those things. No, his Anna smelled of oranges and cinnamon. He cracked open his eyes, ignoring the dull throb in his temples and behind his eyelids, and bit back a curse. Bay lay snuggled in his side, and his erection strained his jeans, rubbing against her. He stopped the movement of his hips and bit back another curse. Flashes of the night before came back to him. Images of Maddox dragging him back to his home and throwing him on the bed mixed with images of the red-haired stranger taking care of him.
She whimpered in her sleep, and instinctively he cradled her face with his hand to quiet her. She rubbed her cheek against his palm and quieted, her body sinking into his like it had a right to be there.

Happy Halloween!

Hey Book Lovers!

Happy Halloween! I hope everyone is going to have a good one!

Here are my Top 10 Halloween books!

1. OBSIDIAN BUTTERFLY by Laurell K. Hamilton
'I was covered in blood, but it wasn't mine, so it was okay.'

Edward is a hit man. He specialises in monsters. Vampires, shape-shifters, anything and everything. There are people like me, Anita Blake, who do it legally, but Edward doesn't sweat the legalities or, hell, the ethics. He is an equal opportunity killer.

I may be one of the few friends that Edward has, but it's like being friends with a tame leopard. It may curl on the foot of your bed and let you pet its head, but it can still eat your throat out...

2. DARK LOVER by J.R. Ward

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There also exists a secret band of brothers like no other - six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Among them, none relishes killing their enemies more than Wrath, the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood...

The only pure-bred vampire left on the planet, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But when one of his most trusted fighters is killed - orphaning a half-breed daughter unaware of her heritage or her fate - Wrath must usher the beautiful female into the world of the undead...
Racked by a restlessness in her body that wasn't there before, Beth Randall is helpless against the dangerously sexy man who comes to her at night with shadows in his eyes. His tales of brotherhood and blood frighten her. But his touch ignites a dawning hunger that threatens to consume them both...

3.  HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT by Cynthia Eden
A Seductive Nighttime World. . .

Dr. Emily Drake's psychotherapy patients tend to be a little unusual. Instead of midlife crises and mother fixations, Emily treats vampires with blood phobias and sex-demons looking for meaningful relationships. But healing these powerful beings requires an important rule: Never trust a shifter. Especially not one like Detective Colin Gyth, whose gold-flecked eyes and predatory air make Emily realize how much she longs to lose control. . .

A Dark And Dangerous Hunger. . .

Colin can't believe the doctor he has to work with on the Night Butcher murder case is the one person who could expose his true identity as a wolf shifter. Smart and sexy, Emily brings out the alpha male in Colin, unleashing a wild desire that takes them both over the edge. . .. But in the shadows, the Night Butcher waits, eager to spill Emily's blood and taste her terror. And he'll use any means to destroy her, including the one person she has grown to trust. . .

4. RED (Lilith Mercury Werewolf Hunter) by Tracey H. Kitts

Dr. Alfred Moody saved her life, but the werewolf, Marco may hold the key to her heart.
She’s torn between the man who saved her humanity and the one who makes her want to embrace the beast.

5.  ONCE BURNED by Jeaniene Frost

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person's darkest secrets through a single touch.

Leila is doomed to a life of solitude...until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire...Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all - but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula.

Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him - a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own.

When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

6.  DUST OF MY WINGS by Carrie Ann Ryan

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up.

Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes? Neat freak lab tech, Lily Banner lives her life as any ordinary human.

She’s dedicated to her work and loves to hang out with her friends at Dante’s Circle, their local bar. When she discovers a strange blue dust at work she meets a handsome stranger holding secrets – and maybe her heart. But after a close call with a thunderstorm, she may not be as ordinary as she thinks.

Shade Griffin is a warrior angel sent to Earth to protect the supernaturals’ secrets. One problem, he can’t stop leaving dust in odd places around town. Now he has to find every ounce of his dust and keep the presence of the supernatural a secret. But after a close encounter with a sexy lab tech and a lightning quick connection, his millennia old loyalties may shift and he could lose more than just his wings in the chaos.

7.  VAMPIRE VACATION by C.J.Ellisson

Meet Vivian. She's a 580-year-old vampire who exudes sex, has a talent for drama, and is passionate about two things: her human husband, Rafe, and their resort for the undead. Her ability to project physical illusions has created the perfect vacation spot -- a dark, isolated Alaskan hideaway where visitors can have their wildest fantasies come true.

Vivian knows the best performance requires perfect timing, but the powerful vamp is put to the test when she discovers a corpse in a locked guestroom minutes before the next arrivals. Always cool-headed, Rafe hides the body, convinced he and Vivian can find the culprit without disturbing their guests.

Juggling the increasingly outrageous demands of their customers while tracking a killer isn't easy. Will their poking and prodding give them the answers they need, or will it uncover secrets Vivian would kill to protect?

8. VEILED EYES BY C.L.Bevil

A vivid waking dream of giant cypress trees dripping with Spanish moss haunts Anna St. Thais. The trees sit on a black lake that resembles a dark Louisiana bayou with an evocative aura. The dream includes the presence of a man who seems to know Anna all too well and a group of people with strange telepathic powers, sometimes called veiled eyes.

An orphan from Texas, she is on her way east to help out a friend when she encounters two terrifying things. Psychically, she begins to see and hear things through the eyes of an unknown individual, a man who knows more about her than she ever would have imagined.

The second thing is that she has been kidnapped by a sociopathic trucker intent on making her his latest victim. When she is rescued by Gabriel Bergeron, a member of the elusive Lake People in Northwestern Louisiana, Anna doesn’t realize that he is her psychic counterpart and she has been inexplicably pulled to the area. She shares their strange colored gold eyes and their distinctive mental powers.

They are a reclusive lot and know that Anna is one of them, but has been isolated by unknown circumstances. She is drawn into their incomparable world, something between that of the Creoles and Cajuns, and much in addition to those.

There Anna finds a romantic link with Gabriel and the spine-tingling fear of not knowing who to trust. Her return has disturbed the inner workings of the group and threatens to expose secrets long concealed in the murky Louisiana bayous. There are secrets to be divulged about her past and why she was spirited away as an infant. Anna isn’t safe until she discovers the answers she so desperately requires.

9.HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE VAMPIRE by Kerrelyn Sparks

So what if he's a bit older and usually regards a human female as dinner, not a dinner date? Yes, Roman Draganesti is a vampire, but a vampire who lost one of his fangs sinking his teeth into something he shouldn't have. Now he has one night to find a dentist before his natural healing abilities close the wound, leaving him a lop–sided eater for all eternity.

Things aren't going well for Shanna Whelan either...After witnessing a gruesome murder by the Russian mafia, she's next on their hit list. And her career as a dentist appears to be on a downward spiral because she's afraid of blood.

When Roman rescues her from an assassination attempt, she wonders if she's found the one man who can keep her alive. Though the attraction between them is immediate and hot, can Shanna conquer her fear of blood to fix Roman's fang? And if she does, what will prevent Roman from using his fangs on her...

10. BITTEN & SMITTEN by Michelle Rowen

Blind dates can be bad, but Sarah Dearly's date is a true contender for worst ever. His neck nibbling didn't just leave a bruise; it turns her into a vampire -- and the newest target for a pack of zealot vampire hunters.

With her date now their latest victim, Sarah runs for her immortal life -- straight into Thierry de Bennicoeur, a master vampire who is just a wee bit suicidal.

REVIEW: Bitten by Tracey H. Kitts!

Hey Book Lovers!

To end our Halloween month of Vampires, Werewolves, witches, demons, angel and other monsters of the night. I give you my review of Bitten by Tracey H. Kitts!

BITTEN BY TRACEY H. KITTS

Sandra Ashton is a witch who suddenly finds herself dating three vampires. So, what do you do when you’ve got three immortal beings professing their undying or is that undead love for you? You agree to what they like to call, “joint custody.”

REVIEW

This book caught my eye when I saw the two words, "Joint Custody" when I first discovered this book. I was interested in the book and I bought it with in seconds of finishing the blurb because I wanted to find out how she got three vampires. So when you first meet Sandra's Lover number 1, I was like "Yum! Smexy!" But as the book went on I could help but think, 'where are the other two hotties?' thankfully I didn't have to wait too long because hottie number 2 popped up and then hottie number 3 showed up with all his sexiness! This book isn't just about sex or threesomes, it's about how one girl discovers her true self while murders are happening in her home town. I want to marry all three of those hottie vampires but I would have liked to of known hottie number 2 a little better.

I do hope there will be another book that comes out! Perhaps how Pris and her hottie gets on? *hint hint* hehehe!

Halloween with a bite interview with Tracey H. Kitts!

Hey Book Lovers!

Today I have a special treat for you all to sink your fangs into! Please give a warm welcome to Tracey H. Kitts, author of Bitten!

1. Hi, Tracey! I am so thrilled to have you here today! Please give us some background to my followers about Bitten?

Bitten is one of those stories that was a true pleasure to write. Even more so than usual for me. It’s the story of Sandra Ashton, a witch who is lonely despite her proficiency in love spells. However, Sandra will not be lonely forever. Through the course of the story she becomes involved with not one, but three handsome vampires. There are many things I love about this book that has nothing to do with the hot vampire ménage part. Ha. Ha. Ha. But, I don’t want to give too much away.
2. Why did you re-edit and expand Bitten?
Bitten was previously under contract with a publisher. However, since then the rights have reverted to me. I’ve learned a lot in the 5 years since I was first published. I wanted to be sure this book was the very best it could be. And I wanted to elaborate on a few things.

3. Do you have any writing tips to pass onto my followers?

Don’t take every critical remark to heart. Constructive criticism is a very different thing than being insulted. There are always people waiting to insult you and your work. If what they say rings true, you’ll know it. If it just makes you mad, then do something that makes you feel better and go on about your day. Oh, and if bashing them with a meat mallet would make you feel better, DON’T do that. Ha. Ha. Have a nice cup of coffee or a bubble bath or something instead.

4. Would you ever do a book tour?

To brick and mortar stores you mean? I would love to. One day when I have the funding, I might.

5. As you know my favourite book of yours is 'Frank and the Werewolf Tamer'. Which was a refreshing take on Frankenstein. Is Bitten, in your opinion, another refreshing take on witches and vampires?

I would love to think that everything I write is refreshing. (Yes, I’m teasing, but it’s a nice thought.) For me, Bitten was a journey inside the life of a witch I wouldn’t mind knowing in real life. I hope others will feel the same way.
6. What other paranormal beings have you written about?

I have written about everything from vampires and werewolves to wizards, demi-gods, and a fae shaman.

7. Halloween is one of my favourite holidays because you can dress up and pretend to be someone else. Is Halloween your favourite holiday and why?
Absolutely! I love Halloween. October is my favorite month because here in Florida, that’s when the temperature finally begins to drop. It’s like a blessing to feel the cool wind against my face instead of stepping into a sauna every day. Halloween happens at the perfect time of year, in my opinion. I love the colors associated with most of the decorations, orange, black, purple, and green. I love growing pumpkins, carving jack-o-lanterns, and giving candy to friends and strangers. I love costumes, bizarre makeup, and scary movies. I even love candy corn. You don’t have to visit relatives, or host parties if you don’t want to. There’s no pressure to buy gifts or bake a turkey. Ha. Ha. Halloween is by far my favorite holiday.
8. What are you doing for Halloween?

At the moment, the only plan that is definite is my cousin’s Pumpkin Carving Party. Her birthday is Halloween and we really enjoy getting together. There will be lots of food (including my famous Graveyard/Ghost Cake) and it will be a blast. I may also have a cookout at my house, but that’s still undecided.

9. Do you have any Halloween recipes to share with us?

Sure. I would love to share my Graveyard Cake recipe. It’s much easier than it might sound and it turns out so cute.
Ingredients for your Graveyard/Ghost Cake
Don’t forget to use your own imagination here. You can use whatever you like as a topping. I’ve seen everything from bloody graves (strawberry syrup) to witch hats made from candy corn. Plus, if you’re lactose intolerant (like me) you can make this using lactose free milk. It tastes just the same.
1 box Devil’s food Cake Mix, mixed and baked as directed

12 oz. Oreo Cookies, crushed

6-10 Oval shaped Butter Cookies (Pepperidge Farm Milanoes work well. I’ve also used chocolate wafers dipped in chocolate before too.)

White Icing

Chocolate Icing (or white with black food coloring to make a nice gray)

Assorted tubes of Cake Decorating Gel in Halloween colors

(orange, yellow, brown, etc.)

1 cup Candy Corn or Pumpkin Shaped Candies

Several small gummy worms (Or whatever you like)

Putting your Graveyard/Ghost cake together

Bake cake according to package directions or recipe and let it cool completely.

Spread on the icing

Top with Crushed Oreo Cookies

Using gel frostings to write spooky and funny sayings on the top half of the cookies such as "BOO", "RIP", “ILMAO,” “B.A. GOUL,” etc.

Press the cookies halfway down into the cake here and there to resemble standing tombstones. Tilt a couple of them.

You can randomly place gummy worms around in your graveyard or whatever other candy you like.

If you want to do the ghosts, I put some white icing into a plastic bag and snip the tip. Squeeze out into little ghosts shapes (again randomly) over the cake. Remember, they don’t need to be perfect, just look like little ghosts. If they look kinda like snow men, don’t worry. Make a little point at the top of their heads by running a toothpick through the icing and pulling upward. TADA! You’re done!

Serves 8-12.

Now, if your oven isn’t working and/or you don’t feel like baking, you can always read Bitten. It’s a way to turn up the temperature, no assembling required. Ha. Ha.

10. Is there anything else you'd like to add or tell us about you, your books or just anything?

I absolutely love what I do. I write for a living and I can’t think of any better job in the world. I’ve never written about the paranormal because of its recent surge in popularity. I write about it because that’s what interests me. I’ve always been drawn to the macabre. My mom used to tell me that I should stop reading “werewolf and vampire trash.” That’s the label she put on any horror novels I read. Naturally, that didn’t stop me. My dad has always loved science fiction and fantasy, so he got me into that. Since I also enjoyed reading romance, I suppose it’s not so strange I ended up writing a combination of all those elements. Paranormal romance really is a mixture of horror, romance, science fiction, and fantasy.

A lot of people have also asked me why I write erotic paranormal romance. It’s really simple. I’m not trying to cash in on the erotica surge either. Although, I won’t lie and say that increased sales aren’t great. Ha. Ha. Ha. As a reader, I never liked books that I felt closed the door in my face. I want to hear the whole story. The sex is part of the story or it shouldn’t be there. That’s the way I feel about it. Plus, writing explicit scenes doesn’t bother me in the slightest.
Okay, it’s time for more coffee for me. Thank you so much for having me and I hope everyone enjoys the recipe!

BITTEN BY TRACEY H. KITTS!
