Hey Book Lovers!
Boy! Do I have a treat for you today! Please give a warm welcome to C.J.Ellison, author of Vampire Vacation!
1. Hi, C.J. Ellisson! I am so thrilled to have you here today! Please
give us some background, to my followers, about The VV Inn series.
Thanks
for having me! The vampire series I've written is a mix of suspense,
intrigue, adventure, humor, and lots of sex. I can't really call it a
romance since they're a married couple, but since I love reading good
stories with heat I couldn't resist adding the erotic elements. The
basic premise is an ancient vampire hiding a secret lives in a remote
Alaskan location with her human husband, running a Fantasy Island type
of getaway for her fellow undead. A dead body turns up in chapter one
and the fun begins!
2. What inspires you to write?
Real
life, things I read, and a great imagination! Inspiration can come form
all around us. We just have to pay attention and take notes when an
idea hits.
3. When did you decide to be an author?
I
started writing as an escape. It was only when a friend who's a
professional editor told me I was a natural that I started to dream it
could really happen. I've only been writing for three and a half years.
I'm still struggling to maintain a balance between home life, writing,
and health. It's a daily challenge to say the least!
4. What other paranormal beings have you written about?
My adult series contains vampires, werewolves, shifters,
witches, and wizards. The middle-grade book I'm penning for my kids
contains some supernatural elements via fairies, people who share a bond
with a certain type of animal, and physic powers.
5. Do you have any hobbies?
I
love to read (gee, big surprise) and before I became a writer I used to
read three to five books a week. Now it's closer to one, depending on
my current deadline. I also like to garden, take pictures, hike, go
camping, cook, do crafts with my kids, walk my dogs, and play board
games.
6. I love Halloween! Is Halloween your favourite holiday? If not then what is?
I
do love Halloween! We decorate the inside of the house, the whole front
yard, and some years even throw big neighborhood parties. I also love
Christmas. We're not religious, but decorating the house and celebrating
with friends and family for the weeks before and after the holidays is
always a favourite at our house, too.
7. What are you dressing up as for Halloween?
This year I'm going to be at the Anne Rice Vampire Ball and Undead
Con in New Orleans for the weekend prior to Halloween. I plan on
dressing up as a vampire. For home, my husband and I have some costumes
we never got to wear last year -- a Scottish Lass and Lord. The costumes
were a little on the sexy side and we went to Disney with the kids,
which was a unique experience, so we left them at home.
8. Do you have any Halloween recipes to share with us?
None, I'm lame. Sorry! I cook a lot, but recently have
been focusing on low sugar, low salt, gluten free, and no processed
foods. It's more work than I'd like, but I'm feeling better so the
incentive to keep at it is strong.
9. What books can we except from you in the future?
I've
recently finished a contemporary erotic romance called Vanilla Dom.
It's the story of a shy woman discovering her sexuality and confidence
and an ambitious man discovering what he values above all else in life,
even over money. It's the first book in a new series, and there are
three plotted titles for this couple.
Next in my vampire series is a request from readers.
I'm writing a prequel story detailing how the sexy werewolf Jonathan
came to be Vivian's vampire servant. The book is plotted and started.
I'm excited to share it with readers and hope to have it our this
winter.
10. Is there anything else you'd like to add or tell us about you, your books, or anything at all?
Thanks for the great interview, Michelle! I'd like to encourage readers to stop by my website at www.cjellisson.com
and click on the books tab. I've got half of my books posted for free
to introduce readers to the style and voice of my work before they buy.
If they have an eReader, they should search for Just One Taste at their favourite online retailer. It's a freebie eBook of the first half of
Vampire Vacation, book one in the V V Inn series -- a great way to
sample the book instead of reading on the computer.
Meet Vivian. She’s a 580-year-old vampire who exudes sex, has a talent for drama, and is passionate about two things: her human husband, Rafe, and their resort for the undead. Her ability to project physical illusions has created the perfect vacation spot—a dark, isolated Alaskan hideaway where visitors can have their wildest fantasies come true.
Vivian knows the best performance requires perfect timing, but the powerful vamp is put to the test when she discovers a corpse in a locked guestroom minutes before the next arrivals. Always cool-headed, Rafe hides the body, convinced he and Vivian can find the culprit without disturbing their guests.
Juggling the increasingly outrageous demands of their customers while tracking a killer isn’t easy. Will their poking and prodding give them the answers they need, or will it uncover secrets Vivian would kill to protect?

My favorite thing about Halloween is enjoying my children's re-action to everything. I love taking my kids trick or treating because some of the places we go to the neighbors really do it up. Some even creep me out :)

I agree! The kids make this holiday so much more exciting. Mine have been contemplating going to the scary forest done at our local park -- but I think it'll be too much for them at this age. They do a really good job, from what I've heard, and it's more geared for teenagers.
Deletelol, CANDY... We buy it by the tons, and pray that we still have the good stuff left after all the 'cheap stuff' is treated out. I know, we're bad!
ReplyDeleteWe used to never get trick or treaters. I started buying the full sized candy bars and word got around! Now we get loads of kids stopping by.
DeleteThanks for the fun interview ladies! Halloween is not so big here in Holland, and last year was the first time ever some trick and treaters banged on my door! This year I will be prepared, and have some candy for them, and perhaps a surprise!
